Air Pallets - Heavy Load Moving Equipment

Flat, Low Profile Air Pallets with Rear Push Handle Controls

Air Pallet - a typical Rotair Systems air pallet - this model easily handles 1800kgs with easy.Shown to the right is the more traditional type of air pallet - complete with rear push handle controls and all adjustments in the one central area behind the air pallet.

Air pallets are pneumatically powered (compressed air) and an ideal choice for indoor locations such as factories and warehouses. Working on a smooth, level, non-porous floor surface, they can whisk loads away from a loading dock to their intended destination in no time at all.

Air pallets can move loads up to 4500kgs with very little human effort. For loads above 4500kgs, Rotair Systems offers custom-built air pallets to suit  your specifications. Options include the fitting of integral guide wheels to assist with steering, and drive wheels to take care of propulsion.

Like their aluminium platform transporter counterparts they are also relatively low profile and have a height of around 2 inches with deflated air bearings.

Alternate type air pallet - fitted with B-type air bearings.

Air pallets are available with either A-type or B-type air bearings, depending on the intended use, floor surface, and type of load they will be transporting. A-type air bearings are the traditional standard fit, and when they are energised, they lift the load away from the floor surface "just enough" to float the load which can then be moved off to its destination. This type of set up requires the load to be placed upon the air pallet.

When an air pallet set up includes B-type air bearings, the properties of air pallets change slightly. B-type air bearings have a lift height which allows them to lift a load or pallet away from its base before moving it laterally to its destination. This type of lift is available for many situations when loads are not able to be placed on the air pallet by other means.

In addition to the higher lift of the B-type air bearings, they also are a little more powerful and can often work on floor surfaces that appear rougher than the standatd smooth concrete type of floor surface. However, they do use about the twice the amount of compressed air as the A-type air bearings do. But in certain circumstances the B-type are definitely required for the job and are well worth the extra compressed air that is consumed.

Be sure to ask your Rotair Systems contact for more details on A & B-type air bearings and their properties.
